Ryan Walsh, Ph.D. - Mindful Balance Emotional Health
You have the strength to get through this, but you don't have to do it alone.
Therapy can help you get control of your life again.
Life can beat us up. If you are feeling anxious, stuck, defeated, or struggling to deal with the past, therapy can help. I know at times it may feel like things can't change, but I am here to tell you that isn't true. You do have the ability to change your life and regain control in meaningful ways.
I offer therapy to help you discover and change the patterns that are keeping you stuck, and to finally release the challenges that are standing in your way. In therapy you will learn to deal with the past, set boundaries, achieve goals, build positive relationships, to stop letting emotions make decisions for you, and to embrace (or discover) the real you. We can do this together.

LIFE STRESS & BURNOUT
Challenges in life can feel like too much. Maybe you're going through a big life transition, or just feeling overwhelmed or uninspired by your everyday grind. If you are dealing with problems at home, career difficulties, breakups, or just exhaustion, we can process your stress and work together to reestablish some balance.

Working with Heartwood Therapy has been life changing. I came in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and disconnected from myself. Over time, I not only
learned how to manage my anxiety, but also how to truly listen to and trust myself again. I always felt seen, supported, and never rushed. It’s rare to find a
space that feels both safe and empowering Heartwood is exactly that.

Choosing the Right Therapist
What Makes Me A Good Fit for You?
Choosing a therapist isn't easy. It's important for you to choose someone who is the right match for you and your needs. Here are some things that might make me a good fit for you:

I work with specific specialty areas. It is important as you choose a therapist, to look for someone who is focused in a few particular areas, rather than someone with a broad or general focus. While generalized care can sometimes meet your needs, therapists with specialty areas tend to concentrate their work and training in those areas. For you, this means a therapist who will have a deeper understanding of what you are dealing with and what you need to succeed.
I have a doctoral level degree in clinical psychology, and I have over 12 years of post-licensure experience providing evidence-based therapy in St. Louis for anxiety, trauma, depression, and other stress.

My emphasis is on providing high-quality mental health care services.
-
I am trained in evidence-based practices.
-
This means I focus on care that has been studied and is known to be effective at reducing mental health symptoms and improving functioning.
-
I strike a balance between giving you space to process what is going on, while also working to give you real tools.
-
-
I keep my caseload manageable.
-
I have a limit of how many cases I take on.
-
That means that each case gets more of my attention and time, rather than spreading myself thin.
-
-
The quality is important, because helping you get well really matters to me.
-
Not all companies (even therapy offices) prioritize quality over quantity. I believe that the way for you to get better is for me to provide you with the absolute best care possible.

This is a paragraph where you can include any information you’d like. It’s an opportunity to tell a story about the company.
I've been there. In addition to having specialized education and experience, I am also someone who has dealt with some of these challenges on a personal level. I know how important these things are to you, and I know what it feels like to ask for help. You want to get better. You want to have better ways of dealing with these challenges. You want a therapist who makes things practical, helps you feel relaxed and comfortable, and talks to you like a person (not like someone just reading out of a textbook). My style naturally creates an environment where you can feel comfortable and make progress.

I'm local! I have lived in the St. Louis area for 20 years, and this city is my home. I do offer virtual-care options for people across Missouri, however I often hear from people who prefer to see a therapist in-person in their community. My office is located conveniently on Watson Road in St. Louis County.
