Therapy for Stress and Burnout
For: Chronic stress, life transitions and changes, high-functioning anxiety, burnout, feeling overwhelmed.
“It’s just stress.” “Maybe it’ll get better on it’s own.” “It’s only temporary.” “I can handle it.” These are all common things we tell ourselves. It can be hard to know if the stress you are dealing with needs professional intervention. The reality is that any negative and even positive changes in life can lead to significant stress that may contribute to problems with tension, lack of energy, irritability, worry, and general dissatisfaction. Stress has a way of growing over time, and you may still be struggling (at work, with family or friends, and even enjoying your free time) despite trying to deal with it on your own.
With therapy focused on understanding and dealing with stress effectively, you can get back to being yourself. Effective therapy for dealing with stress and burnout works to understand the factors that started these difficulties for you, as well as the things that have prevented that stress from improving over time.
I offer therapy that focuses on improving your recognition of your stress response, discovering coping patterns that work (and those that don’t work) for you, building skills for changing unhelpful habits or patterns, and working to help you still enjoy life when there are some things outside of your control. Together, we can work on the things that are holding you back.

Therapy is a place for you to be able to unpack the things that are on your mind. You might be stressed at home, feeling overwhelmed or unfocused at work, worried about the state of the world, unsure how to juggle all the responsibilities you have, and just feeling burnt out. In therapy you can have the time to unload, take a breath, and get support.

In addition to providing support, we will also discuss tools you can use to manage the stress you're under. These may be tools for dealing with uncertainty, building greater satisfaction in life, or even directly confronting some of the challenges you are facing.

Often people may have the tendency to push through their stress without even taking the time to notice that they are running on fumes. You may have seen this in yourself--sometimes it may even feel necessary. Therapy can help you find some balance, so you can juggle the stress you encounter, while also being aware of when you need time for a breather.

Everyone has habits in how they cope with stress. Therapy can help you take stock of what works for you and what doesn't. Knowing this can help you face future challenges, and keep you moving in the direction you want your life to go.
